The benefits of healthy eating are nowadays being given more publicity than ever before and there are many reasons why this is so. Poor diet is a leading factor in diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure which can put a drain on the economy. While we’re incessantly being counseled to adopt healthy eating habits, it is also easier than ever to rely on fast food and other convenience items that are not beneficial for us. In all likelihood, a lot of people believe that it takes a great deal of work to eat healthily and that they will need to drastically alter their lifestyle. In reality, however, merely making a couple of minor changes can positively impact day-to-day eating habits.

These changes are possible with all types of foods and can apply to the oils you cook in and the spread you use on bread. Olive oil, for example, contain monounsaturated fats which are basically good fats that fight the effects of bad cholesterol. It also has vitamin E which is beneficial for your skin, among other things. If you currently eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, you may want to think about where you’re buying them and if it’s the best source. Organic foods are a superb option and will reduce any possible exposure to toxic chemicals. Looking for a local supplier of fresh vegetables and fruits will give you the option of eating foods that still contain most of the nutrients which are oftentimes lost when produce has been kept in storage before selling it.

To sum up, it is not difficult to start making healthy eating a part of your daily lifestyle.

  1. Provide 3 Chikuwa
  2. Use 2 cubes Cream cheese (cubed sold in foil wrappers)

  2. Blanch the chikuwa for about 20 seconds. The taste will disappear if you boil for too long.
  3. Mix two blocks of cream cheese and wasabi well. If you don’t mix it evenly, you won't know which parts of the dish are hot or not!
  4. The stuffing in this picture is also not the best, but don’t worry! Just eat as soon as possible and nobody will realize!

Traditionally, Chikuwa is made from "Surimi (すり身)" fish paste kneaded with salt, sugar, starch, and egg. Place block of cream cheese on serving platter. Using a spoon, make a well down the center of the cream cheese block. Pour wasabi sauce into the well and use a spoon to spread it to the edges so it flows a little over the sides. Drizzle Ponzu sauce over the top and around the cream cheese block.
